A lot depends on what level of activity you are allowed at Brown.

Selling puts requires a certain level of authorization on options. There are 5 or 6 I believe.

You might inquire on the Brown thread.

The initial margin requirement of a short put is the greater of:
- Proceeds of the sale plus 20% of the stock value, less any out-ot-the-money amount
or
- Proceeds of sale plus 10% of the underlying stock value

The maintenance margin requirement of a short put is the greater of:
- Current option premium plus 20% of the stock value, less any out-ot-the-money amount
or
- Current option premium plus 10% of the underlying stock value
