how accurate is the information at Yahoo finance in a company's profile ? for example, book value of JDSU is $47.64... I am having difficulty with that when I see it trading at less than $12...!!! would someone comment on that please!

This book value is based on the price (in stock) paid for other companies (e.g., ETEK) and doesn't reflect the fact that the value of these other companies has fallen commensurate with the fall in JDSU. When that fact is (eventually) reflected in the book value, you will see huge write-downs (to the tune of many billions of dollars----> NT recently had to write down 19 billion). Word on the street is that JDSU's write-down is imminent. I would guess that real book value is probably closer to $4 - $6

best...
