If the volume was low, perhaps there are not as many shorts as one thinks. Also what makes one equate a high trin wih shorting as opposed to just selling. However, this does go with my caution of taking profits on near term options. As for the deficit you are 100% bang on.

Once again the govt getting it wrong. The govt should have been cutting taxes and paying off the deficit little by little while reducing spending. The economy was humming along just enough to do that. 20 years of unprecidented growth and what does the deficit have to show for it? Now we want a foolish star wars defense, tax cuts, our cake and eat it too! There is no more cake to keep, let alone keep and eat. In the meantime we are still pushing on a string trying to get capex up when the problem is oversupply. Why is this so damn hard for the govt to see?
