Internet via satellite hits Hong Kong

HONG KONG -- SpeedCast released its high-speed Internet service via satellite offering specifically designed for those areas of Hong Kong not currently served by Internet access.
SpeedCast will provide high-speed Internet access via satellite directly to end users in Hong Kong and its outlying areas that are presently beyond the reach of ADSL and Cable networks.
SpeedCast Broadband uses the AsiaSat 3S satellite located at 105.5O degrees east.
“Currently, there is significant demand for high-speed Internet access in remote areas that are beyond the reach of ADSL and Cable Broadband networks. For example, the northern parts of the new territories, outlying islands and southern areas of Hong Kong Island are currently not able to access the Internet. SpeedCast Broadband will provide them with an instant high-speed connection to the Internet,” says Tom Choi, chief executive officer of SpeedCast.
SpeedCast Broadband is offering three service plans based on usage and consumption. Each service offering includes a high-speed Internet connection up to 1.5 Mbps via satellite, 56 kbps unlimited connection, an email account and access to SpeedCast Multimedia’s video content including Bloomberg TV, Fashion TV, ChannelNewsAsia and Channel J.
