“Exposed by Barrons”

Intraday Investments Trading Summary for Friday July 6, 2001

The Barrons comments from last weekend seemed to have been a final catalyst for NVDA’s demise. Good old NVDA split open like a ripe melon today and is in big technical trouble. Here’s how the day played out:

On the long side, we bought BHI and sold it for an average profit of +0.35. We also bought BJS from the oil services sector but ended up selling for –0.42. JNPR was another long we sold quickly for a small loss of –0.22.

Our Intraday scalp shorts included NVDA, FMKT, INTU, EBAY and NT. Here are the results of those trades:

NVDA
Short from $79.90. Stopped out at 80.75 for - 0.85

FMKT
Short from $19.84
Covered half of FMKT at 19.50 for + 0.34. Stopped out of remaining FMKT at 20.40 for - 0.56. Average loss -0.22

INTU
Short from $36.45
Covered at 36.44 for - 0.04 (scratch)

EBAY
Short from $67.10
Stopped out 67.60 for -.50.

AT
Short from 62.10
Covered half at 61.50 for + 0.60. Covered the rest of AT at 61.45 for + 0.65

Needless to say, the big payoff came from our swing shorts as follows:

NVDA
Swing Short From $88.50
We have been short since June 19. We covered one third of position on July 6 in the premarket at 82.70 for + 5.80 points. We covered another third of NVDA at 81.43 for + 7.07. The final third of NVDA was covered at 80.50 for + 8 points

EBAY
Swing Short From $69.35
Short from June 27. We covered half of EBAY at 67 for + 2.35. Later in the day we covered some more EBAY at 65.74 for + 3.65 points. The final portion of EBAY was covered for + 2.95 points.

RVUGQ (NVDA July 85 calls short)
From $8.60
We covered half at 2.55 for + 6.05 points

IBMGB (IBM July 110 calls short)
From $7.10
We covered half of our IBM calls at 2.60 for + 4.50 points.

Although the daytrading wasn’t extraordinary, the swing plays payed off big time! It was great to see follow through on Friday. Have a great weekend!
