The census data is probably a lot like global warming. No one really knows but people fret a lot. <g> There are just so many variables, much like weather models. It seems to me that both sides would appropriately concern themselves with worst-case scenarios, although I don't know why they'd tell reporters about it.

How are Republicans being cavalier toward secular types?

We've discussed that a lot on this thread, perhaps before your time. Much of establishment seems to think that seculars have no moral values and that their "religion" isn't due the same deference as other religions. I report little incidents when I see them. Here's the link to my most recent observation.

I'm not surprised that you don't perceive it as I do. The slights probably wouldn't be noticed by people who aren't affected. Nothing catastrophic, but enough to make me feel like "the other."
