"$58 bln AT&T bid / Comcast offers deal for AT&T cable unit.
Comcast, the ambitious Northeastern cable company, made an unsolicited $58 billion stock-and-debt offer Sunday for AT&T's broadband business in a bid to become the industry's largest operator." CBS

My comment, its how AT&T got rich in the old days when they had a near monopoloy on phone service.. somewhat ironic.
