Pre-emptively let me just say that whatever Brees says next about feminists and who might or might not be one, and what issues might or might not be part of the great cosmic feminist bandwagon, I almost surely disagree. I respect feminists- but I am a humanist- I don't want to ignore 1/2 of the human race. But of course I don't mind people who have a different focus- as long as they don't go in for torture, or humiliation, public execution, stonings, etc. In that way I consider myself fairly tolerant, but not ridiculously tolerant. Whatever he might have to say as an apologist for the Afghan Taleban and their xenophobic intolerance (disparaging people who might not agree with him and the Afghan Taleban as wanting them to act like "us"- whoever the Hell us is) I disagree with that too. Whatever acquaintances he might, from other cultures I doubt he knows the whole society or culture because of his friendships/acquaintances- I don't accept that kind of information as very meaningful. Somewhat meaningful as an expression of one persons opinion, but meaningless to express the will of multitudes. Let's see- what else might he say? Anything about strong women and Steven needing one I heartily disagree with. Steven doesn't need anyone to finish his sentences. He is quite eloquent on his own. Much more eloquent, I might add, than Brees. Perhaps jealousy rears it's head here? I have much to do this week- but I would have hated for anyone to get the wrong impression by my absence.
