Sounds like Intel was guilty of this during the Celeron days when Winchip, Cyrix and Rise were creamed.

Intel could have easily demonstrated they were selling Celerons at a profit based on standard wafer costs, yields, packaging costs and general manufacturing overhead. Does the EU hold a dominant player responsible for the incompetence of it's competition?

That Article 86 thing is interesting too.

Percicely what is the intent of Article 86? It appears that the AMDolt brain interprets it to require a dominant player to price it's products so high as to assure it's competition of some level of success, regardless of any other considerations such as mismanagement or just general incompetence. Almost mirroring modern Liberal thought, AMDolts see a significant market share as an entitlement for which some form of "affirmative action" needs to be put in place. This will ensure AMD receives it's rightful share in order to right past wrongs(the wrong being their long term failure which must be Intel's fault). Just as with quotas, AMDolts believe that any market share short of their entitled number is proof of Intel's wrong doing and justification for Government(EU) intervention.

"The rules only apply when the conduct affects trade between member states" So Intel might be in trouble in Europe.

Is the US a member of the EU?
