Execs cautious on future of Asian Net
Jul 06 2001: Over 80 percent of Asian entrepreneurs believe that fewer than half of dotcoms will make it through the next six months.

This is according to Taylor Nelson Sofres Hong Kong, who interviewed attendees at an ecommerce conference held last week in Hong Kong.

Fifty-seven percent of those polled “strongly agreed” that the telecommunications industry was dying. When asked specifically about the future of the Internet industry, 65 percent said it was not in danger of dying.

Nearly 70 percent believed their company would do better next year.

Twenty-seven percent of the respondents said Singapore was the hottest e-commerce location in Asia-Pacific, while 26 percent said Japan, and 19 percent said Hong Kong.

Those polled most identified with entrepreneurs such as Bill Gates, Jerry Yang of Yahoo, and Richard Li of Pacific Century CyberWorks.
