Russia may produce 150 tonnes of gold this year - prognosis cnniw.yellowbrix.com Source: ITAR - TASS News Wire Publication date: 2001-07-03 Arrival time: 2001-07-09 MOSCOW, July 3 (Itar-Tass) - Russia may produce up to 150 tonnes of gold this year, PRIME-TASS reported citing officials from the Gold Producers Union. The country produced 36.4 tonnes of gold in the first six months of this year, an 8.3 percent increase from the same period in 2000. Some 300 kilogram of gold are produced as by-products or reprocessed from scrap, according to the officials. They said a timely prepartion for the gold-mining season contributed to the production increase.
