That was an unfortunate choice of words by the Senator, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Why should his bumbling cause you unease?

I wouldn't feel too put out by the feeling of "otherness," either. There's plenty of that going around. I could go and dig up quotes by various Democrats and liberals that were uttered throughout the 90s that do a lot more than just create a feeling of "otherness." Paul Begala's column where he describes citizens of the "Red states" that Bush carried comes to mind. He said, "these are the states where James Byrd was dragged to death, Matthew Shephard was crucified, a Federal Building was blown up..." Talk about getting a feeling of otherness!

Nothing wrong with otherness. Who wants to conform, anyway?
