Look at Boeing making planes, etc.

Not the best of analogies. Airbus makes commercial aircraft, too.

I would say that Boeing is to Airbus as Intel is to AMD.
Of course, there are other large aircraft manufacturers such as Lockheed Martin....

And of course, there are other "specialty" chip manufacturers the closest to Intel would be transmeta...
