I think that the networking stocks are completely oversold right now. Even with excess inventory that exists in the networking sector I believe it is the area that most companies will be adding to once the IT spending moratorium is lifted. At least that is where I'm seeing the most pent up demand.

The box manufacturers will NOT lead the tech sector out of the doldrums. Primarily because the consumer market is saturated, consumer sentiment is insufficient to change this and the Microsoft XP upgrade won't be enough to cause a large wave of computer purchasing. Not to mention the price wars that exist.

Most of our customers (I'm in IT) are making due with the desktop systems that they have today. Many are using the PC as a 'thin client' anyway. Others ran through a wave of upgrades prior to Y2K and shortly thereafter.

I tend to disagree with much of the conventional wisdom surrounding the business end of the tech sector. I'm tapped into many large corporation's IT departments and I can usually see first hand where our clients are headed. It isn't always scientific, but that insight has helped guide my investment strategy.
