Treasuries pay about 3% more than cash. You can not use money market investment and most brokers pay peanuts on pure cash(about 1.5 % currently for my broker). Sold 10 ibpnw and 10 ibpbf for 1.8 today and bought 100 shares of tsn. If you look at Jan tsn 7 1/2 and 12 1/2 puts and calls you can see the ibp time value much higher. I am willing to own more tsn at 7 1/2 should stock drop after merger. Chances are 90% that merger ratio will be 2.381 shares of tyson and 15 cash for current ibp shares. If tsn rises in next couple of months the upper value of conversion places ibp at 30 dollars. After merger completes I will buy additional tsn if appropriate.
