Hi Steve. Sorry for the long delay. It seems that I have come down with a wrist injury and it is uncomfortable to type.
"I haven't seen anybody rising from the dead. Have you?"
Not yet, but I have it on reliable authority that it did happen to Jesus Christ.
"Since I don't believe in original sin, I don't see how anybody needed to bear anything on a cross."
Original sin is somewhat irrelevant to the need for a savior. All that is required is an accurate assessment of your current status before a holy God. Do you claim to have lived a sinless life? If you in fact have, and not just claiming to be sinless, then you are right, you have no need of a savior.
"I believe that an itinerant preacher named Jesus once irritated the authorities enough that they nailed him to a cross......I see no reason to suppose that the rest of the story is anything but myth."
You are of course, free to believe what you will, but. Your belief is in direct opposition to the known historical facts, and the eyewitness accounts found in the Gospels. Besides that, you still have the problem of your sin, only now you are without remedy, since you have rejected the only hope of redemption you had, in the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ. I hope you will endeavor to examine this issue afresh, for yourself, and not rely on Solon for all your information. It is after all, a matter of life and death.
Have a good day. Greg |
