I have it on reliable authority that it did happen to Jesus Christ.

That's the crux of it right there, isn't it? You choose to regard that authority as reliable. I do not. I would require far more independent corroboration before believing such an inherently improbable story. So would you, if you didn't have such a stake in accepting it.

Do you claim to have lived a sinless life?

I've done my share of dumb things. I've done things I wish I hadn't done. But I'm not sure that I'd classify any of those things as "sin", and I don't think I need to apologize to anybody but those who may have suffered adverse consequences due to my actions.

The idea that a blood sacrifice, "substitutionary" or otherwise, should be needed to atone for sin is primitive, barbaric, and utterly anachronistic.

I hope you will endeavor to examine this issue afresh, for yourself, and not rely on Solon for all your information.

What on earth makes you think that my opinions are influenced in any way by Solon? I believed what I believe now long before I ever met Solon, and I have never encountered any persuasive reason to change my beliefs. If I do encounter any such reason, I will give it all the consideration it deserves. I don't expect that to happen any time soon.
