That's what it says, and that's all it says! The militia is a good idea. The second amendment doesn't say the militia has the right to keep and bear arms, it says the people have that right and the constitution guarantees it. If you analyze the rest of the constitution, you'll see that any time it protects a right of the people it protects individuals, not organizations.

I really don't understand why you are so bent on monkeying with the meaning of the Second Amendment. Do you watch too much television or something? You don't really think TV gives an accurate picture of how firearms are used under the Second Amendment, do you? If we routinely had the kind of shootouts depicted on TV, I could understand your point of view. But they are relatively rare, albiet even one is too many. So what's in it for you?
