And where did I demonize Reagan? I just pointed out it was a bad time for the unemployed and small businesses.
Do you have ANY recollection of what got Reagan elected in the first place? Does the term "misery index" mean anything to you?
Complain about economic conditions under Reagan if you choose to, but anyone who was around at the time will no doubt recall that Reagan was elected on the basis he would be proactive in eliminating double-digit inflation and reduce interest rates. While in general, the president has little to do with the economy, you must admit that Reagan's tax cuts did get the economy back on track in this instance.
Trying to demonize Reagan is a favorite pastime for liberals. Fortunately, the misrepresentations of facts cannot overcome the inherrent greatness of the man.
There is such a clear pattern here -- great presidents tend to be Republicans (Nixon [one of the great foreign policy presidents of all time], Ford [profiles in courage award], Reagan [no further explanation required], Bush [Gulf War Brilliance], Bush [off to a good start]) vs. the horrible presidents the Democrats have brought us (LBJ [50,000 Vietnam casualties], Carter [Iran Hostages, double-digit inflation], Clinton [scandal, scandal, scandal, no accomplishments worth mentioning]). Just comparing these two lists ought to be enough for anyone to see that Democrats should not be running the country. |
