It's a fatal flaw in the minority wing of the Republican party that has hampered the party since Rockefeller. The so-called "moderates" (i.e., liberals) in the party bear a resentment of the majority conservatives that causes them to spend more of their political capital trying to destroy their own party than the Democrat enemy. The massive Nixon hate that manifested itself on the left during his second term was originally inspired by the previous hate for him in the liberal wing of the Republican party, which bitterly resented his illumination of their political impotence. Later, it was Buchanan's hate for Bush the elder, one that finally drove him to the political far left and oblivion. Today, it's the Bush haters in the party that work against him, with McCain as their leader. McCain-an intellectual midget, just as Rockefeller and Buchanan were before him-is hellbound toward left wing positions, with no consideration at all to the fact that he is destroying (indeed, already has destroyed) his political career...
