Drought cycles and planting schedules can be learned over time with trial and error, then eventually followed without conscious thought ever being involved.
This theory has nothing to do with Vandaniken or chariots of gods. Although its exopsychic to an extent, it stops at ground (human) level. Jaynes is not looking for spirits in the sky. I understand the negative power of using that linkage though.
