Safeco Reports 17.6% Passive Stake In Spectrx

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Safeco Corp. (SAFC, news, msgs) reported holding a
17.6% stake in Spectrx Inc. (SPRX, news, msgs), according to a Schedule 13G filed
Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

As of June 30, Safeco beneficially owned 1.5 million Spectrx common shares.

A Schedule 13G denotes a passive investment stake in
a company. Filers aren't required to provide a reason
for any changes in stake, and aren't required to detail
any transactions.

Spectrx develops painless and bloodless alternatives to
diagnostic and monitoring procedures.
