If the center of the probability distribution ends up on this side of the barrier, its edges can overlap the barrier. There is therefor a finite probability that the electron can be measured on the other side of the barrier. If it is measured there, we say it has "tunneled" across the barrier.

It is a very good one. "Overlapping" is a key word to think about. Do you have thoughts about bending light waves, via project Rainbow style?

I am not trying to put you on the spot, I am interested in this subject because it all relates back to Quantum Computing.
