I read an article recently about the number of Germans getting caught lately at the border trying to illegally leave the country with piles of black market currency to deposit them in secret bank accounts in places like Switzerland. I assumed that this was just a human interest story and a normal occurence for a high tax country like Germany. But on second thought maybe it is related somehow to the introduction of Euro cash next year. Is there a sudden urgency for black market holders of German marks to exit their currency THIS year ?
