The big issue with 3G is that it's going to take longer than expected to get here.

I think 2.5G (GPRS) is more than a transitionary technology. GPRS will be very successful and that success, among other things, will serve to delay mass market 3G rollouts. This is particularly true in markets where non-packet-data switched networks are currently prevalent (Read: most countries except Japan).

If I were interested in this space I'd prefer to consider how to invest in 2.5G rather than 3G.
