Must be funny because you have missed something the carriers have not missed??
Like the fact that a network actually working without heavenly synchronization of basestations is a very valuable, allthough more demanding function.
Carriers have had many nightmares come true when some part of their networks lose synchronization due to some minor, sometimes major component failing.
Ilmarinen
P.S. last time Sonera had a local synchronization problem it was just a minor component, but no data, faxes could connect for a while, and that was the good old wired network. (voice was OK because who cares if some bytes are dropped here and there in that 64kbps stream)
That is, synchronization is much more than long lasting, double capacity wasting soft handoffs, much more for both telecom and power utility networks. (robustness usually demands ability to isolate as well as fail safe when there is a problem)
Btw,btw, how does GPS work during regular climatic extremes or just regular tough times?? (heavy rain, hurricanes, nearby volcanic eruptions, or just a lot of statics??) |
