"Gee...are you claiming these people are WRONG ?
Why did AMD replace their CPU - if it didn't need replacing?"

No, these people are not wrong. Their CPU can be
slightly fried up at assembly shop, or whatever.
Also, there were some test escapes in the K6 past,
and later AMD implemented an exhaustive burn-in
program when _every_ CPU boots into Windows and runs
a serious script of applications and data checking
patterns at highly elevated temperatures.

There also might be many similar effects on a poorly
assembled or inadequate mainboard, and some "enthusiasts"
may be confused by the similarity. Since the CPU
was promptly replaced to full customer satisfaction,
I don't quite understand why this "gordonfamily" keeps
this old isolated incident of 1998 at such high
publicity to the world web.

P.S. Still waiting for your broker report on
"additional" AMD internal selling.
