Paul, Novatel did say in '99 that it was going to produce a 56K wireless modem and upgrade its Network. Said it right on its site at the time.

How does Sprint win if NVTL goes under? How are Palm Users going to wirelessly access the Internet? How many options are there? Go America, Verizon Wireless Palm Net service and Omnisky, all use Novatel Minstrel Modems?

At 144kb next year, where are the alternatives at that speed for an extra $5 a month? MCOM can't compete with PCS on price or on the stability and vastness of network.
Yes, I'm well aware of World Com and Paul Allen's blunder. World Com's stock price today reflects that blunder.

MCOM had problems getting subscribers. Why would anyone want to pay $80 a month for one of its modems unless they had a long commute to and from work on some train or bus?

How NVTL could've bought into the MCOM fantasy I'll never know. Just build it and people will pay? LOL.

NVTL was out of touch with what Palm and POCKET PC users really wanted. They lived in their own fantasy land. Now they will pay the price.

Again, I'm neither long nor short NVTL. Just a very disappointed Palm Wireless Internet User who expected better from NVTL.
