I understand the need for taxes but I don't understand THEIR need to control my retirement.

I'm not sure I understand exactly how the proposal to take SS private will work.

There's probably a lot of people that can manage their own money but I would guess that most people haven't a clue as to what to do. They understand that they put in so much and when they retire, they'll get it all back. That's simplistic but probably the truth.

Young people wouldn't contribute because they don't think that far ahead and don't make that much money.

As I said, I don't understand how a private SS would work. Is it mandatory? How would people choose where to put their money?

I really can't talk very intelligently on the idea because I'm not very familiar as to how it's supposed to work.
