If I were to travel to a civilized Muslim country or a Buddhist country and found myself in a setting where public prayer was occurring, I think I would keep a respectful silence. I might even try and learn something. The effort to eradicate public prayer in this country strikes me as little more than cultural cleansing.

I don't think it ever occurred to anyone that prayer went with football.

But it does. There is a tall statue of Jesus on the quad at Notre Dame. Before the university got greedy and added a bunch of seats to the bleachers, it was in plain view of the home team bench. When the team was down late in the 4th quarter, players could look to "Touchdown Jesus" for inspiration. Touchdown Jesus is no longer visible, and Notre Dame has not been a contender since.

Glad you think after school bible clubs are OK. It's pretty extreme to oppose that, considering the parents of those kids were taxed the same rate as parents of kids in the chess club, glee club, etc.
