August, hiya. For a reasonable explanation of the stuff spiking, you might want to check on this thread for "Capitalist's" last two posts regarding down on news vacuum until today when earnings would start coming out. Today's "hammer" candlestick on the compx indicates to me a likely end of the down since 7/2 and now some upside...maybe until the NM date area of 7/20. If we can rally now, I'd say the upside would likely be limited to the downtrend line connecting the last three tops: 5/22, 6/7, 7/2...somewhere in the 2100++ range.
