<If NVTL goes under, how does that impact my ability to continue accessing my Verizon CDPD service using my Minstrel S?>

Their modems are made of plastic and are extremely fragile. If that modem falls out of one's hand or if the pouch one has placed the modem in accidentally falls off one's belt and hits the surface in the wrong way, bye bye wireless connection.

If Novatel goes under, who will do the repairs for all of their modems? I've already had them do two repairs on my Minstrel III. One they couldn't fix. So, they gave me a new one for $110. That was nice of them. But I find that their battery for the Minstrel III has a limited life span. I had to get a new battery after a year. How am I going to do that again if they go under?

There is a market for Wireless Internet. Novatel's first 19.2 Minstrel Modems sold nicely. They should've produced a 56K modem as they said they would in '99 by year 2000.

Novatel also said last year they would produce a modem for the Palm IIIc. Then they abandoned that project shortly afterwards because they said there wasn't enough demand for one. NVTL thought MCOM was where the demand was. IMHO NVTL misjudged the whole wireless market and where the demand was, what the wireless consumer wanted.

<You seem to feel that Novatel has intentionally dissed the Palm community and should be punished for that offense>

Lots of people went out and bought a Palm IIIc after Novatel promised to build a modem for it, only to have NVTL tell them a couple of months later that they were not making one.

I use a Minstrel III Modem on VZ's network on my Palm IIIx and Sprint's network on my Palm IIIc.

PCS is much more stable and reliable. Their 14.4kb connection is usually quicker than the presumed 19.2kb connection on VZ's network. Makes me wonder how fast I'm really going on VZ's network.

NVTL is at $1.37 today because they misjudged and misunderstood the whole wireless market.

NVTL is still living in fantasy land thinking Merlin will work out for them.

Where do you think Go America's and VZ's customers are eventually going to go to get their Wireless Internet access once NVTL goes under? Those modems don't have very long life spans.
