Iran welcomes moves to resolve conflict in Sudan,


Tehran, July 11, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi
Wednesday welcomed the initiative of the Sudanese government,
political parties and factions in announcing their readiness to
resolve their disputes.

Asefi said Iran would welcome any move to end the plight of the
Sudanese people and boost national reconciliation. He voiced Iran's
readiness to offer whatever assistance it can to foster peace in that
country.

He invited all 'peaceful-loving nations' to support the settlement
of Sudan's internal disputes through dialogue.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed an end to Sudan's
civil war, and the establishment of peace and political stability as a
prelude to economic development and public welfare in that country.

He voiced Iran's support for Sudan's moves towards ending the
18-year civil war and its attempts to safeguard the country's
territorial integrity and sovereignty.
