Well, I am sorry that your experiences with NVTL products has been so unsatisfactory. My experience has been quite different, but I am using the Minstrel S almost exclusively. I just bought 50 of them. I actually find the S to be quite rugged and have had no problems that I can think of. The Min V was reliable but the retracting antenna was quite problematic. One of my colleagues dropped his Visor yesterday and smashed the screen. Does that mean that Handspring is a bad company? And by the way, I was one of those people to whom you referred that bought a Palm IIIc on the presumption that there would be a modem for it. While I wasn't particularly happy about it, we found the V's to be preferable to the III's anyway. Many people misjudged the wireless industry. I and all of my colleagues, lost a job recently for that very reason. But...I am still in the industry because I think that there are business models that make sense and it starts with figuring out how to enable regular people to make money by incorporating wireless technologies into their businesses. That is what will drive the numbers, in my opinion. There just aren't enough people that are willing to pay twice as much as they pay for their AOL to get an experience that is maybe 10% as good.
