hmpa,

I'll call IR and get TWTI's earnings date if you tell me why you think it looks like institutions shorted it "to the hilt during the latest excursion to 15+." Mind you, I find your contention highly probable, just wondering what evidence/interpretation got you there. Their latest PRs give some sign of executing on their plan, though things are early yet.

I guess one way to confirm this and other apparent elephant moves would be to sign up for "Company Sleuth," which was free for a while. Thompson might have a similar service. I'll have to start looking at their "I-Watch" service when I see these pachydermal peregrinations.

I really believe we are close to a bottom in tool and drug discovery companies. The capex spending cycles of life sciences companies are much shorter than that of telecoms, for example. So while Nortel might not see a recovery until sometime next year, I expect biotech/pharma dependent companies with competitive products to see the orders flowing normally by Q4 at latest. Biotechs trying to get approval for products are comparatively risky now, since the FDA looks like it'll be messed up for a while. My humble contrarian opinion.

Cheers, Tuck
