When the book first came out, I had some email converstaions with Geoff and he said he wasn't even following Qualcomm. He later agreed that they are a Gorilla. Which just goes to show they are way easier to spot in hindsight.

And by the way, these conversations occurred before the 99 run. The agreement from Geoff about Q being a Gorilla, came after.
