Re: "AMD has a series of mobile improvements on the way (SOI, .13, architectural) "

AMD delayed the SludgePumper to H2 2002 - to ALIGN it (don't you just love these BS expressions !) with the 0.13 micron SOI process availability.

Common sense would lead us to believe that any mobile AMD CPUs - designed on the 0.13 micron/SOI process will also NOT BE AVAILABLE until the second half of 2002.

The existing mobile PaloMeatHead CPUs already use transistors with leff <0.09 micron - essentially 0.13 micron technology - without the SOI.

I would conclude that AMD will have very little to compete with Intel in the mobile segment for about a year - or more.
