I think the issues are that the 0.18 micron Pentium 4 is scaling pretty good - and AMD doesn't seem to be able to keep up.

That gives Intel some more time to optimize the Northwood for >> 2 GHz operation.

I agree the 0.18 micron part seems to be scaling well, but I'd rather see the P4 move over to 0.13 micron ASAP simply from a COG standpoint...
