Andreas,

I was a bit astonished that AMD admitted that Q2 was a very non-linear quarter and most sales were at the end of the quarter (about 50% of CPU sales in the final month). Shouldn't they have warned earlier then? Or is this normal for Q2?

I don't know what went into the decision not to warn, but if they reported in the middle of the quarter that their sales are going to be down some 50%, based on the information at hand (minus the June surge), the stock would have been in the single digits. In the situation they were in, no matter what they did, they would have people screaming bloody murder. From the perspective of managing the stock price, I think they did well. It was a very risky move on their part. If the sales in June did not materialize, we would be witnessing a disaster today.
