Gottfried:

I'm helping pay you back for all the 're-thinking' that your charts (in all their variations) cause. Indeed, even the idea that the BtB (which for the record I always thought stood for 'By the By') ratio falling or dropping could only be bullish or bearish has been debated. More important was the discussion of the ideas behind the information. Many, particularly on that other 'shall remain nameless' board, want to see your charts as a sort of Rosetta stone to deciphering AMAT's share price direction in the future. You frequently had to douse these great expectations and note charting is only a tool to seek pattern recognition and reliable future predictability. Yet sometimes, as Gertrude Stein quipped, There is no There There.

Bottom line is we need to always be examining ideas and hopefully through determination find novel ways to see and understand ... even if it only stays ahead of the pack for awhile i.e., long enough to get rich. Er, I mean long enough to help mankind. <g>
