The forces of magic, and dogma, and custom are fading away into a new world of reason. The transition while steady is not always smooth. I suspect one of the fundamental differences between liberals and conservatives is that liberals believe in the perfectibility of man- -that Utopia is actually achievable (witness Communism) and conservatives do not. You're dreaming. Man's knowledge could be, and at some point most likely will be, a thousand times greater than what we have now, and man will still be man, and armies and cops and governments and punishment will still be needed.
