Have you ever heard of the neutron bomb?

This was a break through technological advance that the Carter Admin announced during it's term in office.

The release read; a wonderful new alternative technology has been discovered which is a highly effective replacement to the atomic bomb which destroys or vaporizes it's target area.

The neutron bomb kills all living creatures within a confined area but does so without disturbing the surrounding buildings which remain intact after the blast.

The neutron bomb causes an anti-nuclear reaction which results in "Implusion".

The force of the explosion moves out and then suddenly reverses at greater than the speed of light back towards the center point that the explosion. It tends to suck everything into it's collapsing center like a trash compactor.

Two days after this press release the Carter Admin put out another press release which stated that after some thought, the admin had reversed it's decision and would not approve funding for continued research in that area because the technology was "too" dangerous.

I remember thinking at the time how odd it was as I listened to the retraction. Why would they announce it in the first place?

I have no link to this information because it is just from my memory. Ill bet a search would yield some data on the subject.
