Why are there so many democrats in Austin? As opposed to what? I would guess is the leading question. The politically incorrect answer that I have has to do with the history of Austin as a college town. Not just any college town but the best. There are other ones, but they don't have the open enrollment excellence that came with THE UNIVERSITY! The point is, the more you actually think about issues as opposed to "feel" or "react" to issues the more you accept the position found in central Austin. Austin may not survive the next re-districting as a progressive town. It's no longer a college town. It has far fewer educated citizens than it used to and the state legislature is full of representatives of new to the state texans. If it loses it's progressive edge, it will lose it's technology edge, and just become the center of beauracracy for the state. IMHO TP
