The Nishan CEO was also the CEO of Amati Communications, the company that owned key patents to the Discrete Multi-Tone DSL standard and the company which ended up being acquired by Texas Instruments for around $300M a few years ago. Amati had very well-regarded engineers and technologists, but it never managed to grow beyond the developmental stage. That's why for all its histrionics, I have always viewed Nishan as potential take-out, at best. As it stands now, iSCSI and FCIP have the backing of the heavyweights and Nishan's SOIP looks like a noisy duck that doesn't know just yet that it's going to end up upside down behind a glass window somewhere.
