Frank, That is a pretty expensive 1%! If ASPs fall to 72, what will they be when AMD gets to 30% market share?

1.1% increase in AMD market share is a 5% increase in AMD sales. Back when Mike Magee broke the story that Intel would be cutting P4 prices by 50% (just after Q1 earnings, I think), I was incredulous, but said that it would result in a quarter where AMD is breakeven and Intel had a loss in operating earnings.

Making a profit in Q2 is better than 90% of other semi companies. AMD has never been stronger financially. R&D was up considerably in Q2 and won't be reduced in Q3. Sure, ASP's could have been 5% higher if AMD had foregone that 5% increase in sales, but what would the point of that be?

Revenue and earnings would have been the same.
