Old beer is dead; Long live the new beer!

I for one certainly do not miss drinking the old, bland, urine-resembling lagers of days gone by.

We have experienced a renaissance in beer making, to the extent that American beer has gone from the worst in the world to the best.

Canada is undergoing a similar change. I know there has always been a lot of hype about the superiority of mainstream Canadian beer, but I have never thought so aside from the high-alcohol-content Labatt "50." Not too long ago I took a tour of a microbrewery in Montreal that brews Tremblay beer...and a few others. This was a young group of guys and girls that seemed to be on the cutting edge of beer making.....plus.....for $5 Candian I sampled enough tasty beer to preclude myself from driving back to the hotel.

As for American beer, there can be no dispute that the finest beer known to man is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

And for something different how about a creamy, delicious Otter Creek Stovepipe Porter.
