re: Intel thinks it is better that you don't have this information, or the number of units sold, or their ASP. As TWY said, Intel continues to treat its investors like mushrooms: keep them in dark, feed them sh*t.
As someone else pointed out, Mr. Sanders wouldn't give the breakdown of Duron/Athlon sales for "competitive reasons". This is the same excuse that Intel uses. I'm not sure if it's warranted or not.
I still think AMD is shooting itself in the foot with it's market share at any cost strategy. If a company has a competitive product, and can't get a competitive price, then they are simply not communicating the products value. Building market share through perceived value is a long term strategy, building market share on price short term.
AMD seems to be between a rock and a hard place, they can't make a profit without volume, they can't get volume without discounting, they can't make a decent profit if they discount, they can't market if they don't make a decent profit, they can't raise their prices if they don't market.
I don't know where they go from here.
