Hi Karen- (re: Chaundra Levy, sort of)

Yes, I guess I'm being a trouble-maker.

But someone has to keep the Sauna warmed up while all of you are reading your assignment. Hopefully nobody but you will pay any attention to my posts.

Talking about Hamilton reminds me that he currently is listing The Summer Wind, hardcover for $3.95 or so. This tells the story of the Thomas Capano case, a prototype for the Levy case. As some may recall, Capano was a powerful, highly-connected political leader in Delaware, a former state's attorney, I believe. He was having an affair with a young woman named Anne Marie Fahey -- who one day disappeared without a trace. Capano denied any knowledge of her whereabouts (sound familiar?). Foul play was suspected and Capano fell under suspicion. He did everything in his power (considerable) to thwart the investigation, insofar as it concerned him. The book tells how the dedicated law enforcement authorities were able eventually to convict him. (This is not spoiling the story, as this was a highly publicized case at the time). Capano as we speak is on death row with appeals about exhausted.

Ann Rule wrote a book on this case also, but the one I mention is far superior -- this is an author with literary talent, and the book reads like a skillfully plotted novel. The thing I liked best about it is how much it gets you cheering for law enforcement to bring down an arrogant, self-absorbed, clever, powerful individual.

If you have any liking for really good true crime, this is one of the best. And is it ever timely right now.

I think Rambi would let any of you guys buy this now, so long as you put it aside until you finish Camus.
