Hi CB,
NMD is technically extremely difficult, even under laboratory conditions;

operationally not dependable, in the field, ever;

militarily useless, for all of the 30 minutes that will not matter to this world;

diplomatically inadvisable, and strategically not wise.

But, other than all of the above shortcomings, it is OK as a venue for government fiscal sink.

The work will, however have spin-off applications in many unrelated fields, but as in all technologies, its original intended role will be counter-balanced by other technologies.

America can invent it, but Russia and China will build more of it cheaper, and the folks who is really willing to use plutoium technology against the US will ignore it and assemble their toys on site in Manhattan.

Chugs, Jay
