hence my claim they are going to break-even. actually a penny after the charge. i notice when msft and other companies were making big money off investments they didn't separate the gains from the earnings release, but now that it's working against them it's a charge, separate from pro-forma earnings. that's why this bear market is going to continue on and take more stocks down, we have had so many accounting gimmicks over the years that real weaknesses in company reports are hidden or explained away. that is going to haunt companies on the downside as much as it boosted them on the upswing.
